drive as fast as you wish...but it's not safe with those conditions. your truck can handle it in 4x4

4 LO is a different matter though, Im sure you knew that. I wonder what would happen? Would you break something first or would something shut down?

4 lo i hope you dont really go over 20, as far as 4hi there is no worries, enguaging it over 55 though may cause the transfer case to shatter, but once safely enguaged you can go as fast as you want. the worse thing ive ever seen is a friend of mine tried to flip his ranger into 4hi going down the road and he slipped up and hit 4lo nothing happed but he needed a new transfer case.

I DO know that if you inadvertantly flip the **** to 4LO when not in nuetral, nothing will happen. I found this out when I was messing with my A/C, and accidentally did this instead.

not on the floor shifting trucks, or the older models, that and you could have just got very lucky.

You can drive as fast as you want to in 4x4. It just depends on how long you want to live and if you don't want to kill anybody.

I take it one of two things: you've either never driven on snow before or you haven't read your manual. For one thing, if there is snow on the ground you have no need to drive 55.

as said by most others dont engage above 55 mph. as for the speed while in 4H and 4L, i've driven 4l up to 40 mph on my truck, and ive had 4H up around 85. when you live in a state that gets snow from mid october thru april into may every year, and when semi trucks pass you at 65 mph on snow packed roads without chains you best believe im going to drive my truck over 55 mph in 4Hi.

out of all of our current vehicles: 05 F250 SD king ranch, 92 jeep cherokee, 2000 tacoma, 94 dakota (all 4x4), and my truck, the f150 has the most solid performance while in 4hi. all the other vehicles i can spin out in 4h. never once been able to break my truck loose while in 4hi- believe me i've tried.

I've played around some in 4hi and found that I can't get very good traction on the roads up to 80mph. I tried getting on it (not flooring it) on the highway in 4wd at 80 and the truck about turned sideways. Last time I do that! I've gotten her up to about 100 in 4wd with no problems. These trucks run real good in 4X4, better than any of my last vehicles.

Man I can't wait for the roads to thaw out!

I've gone 65-70 mph no problem as long as there is some snow on the road. I wouldn't use 4x4 on dry pavement though.
