Thumbs down Trouble with the 04 Screw 4.6

Driving around tonight and came to a red light... Once I sat there for a few seconds the "idiot light" came on (Little Engine Light on the Dash) I have a SuperChips 1714 programmer and scanned the codes once I got back to the house.

P0506

I cant put my hand on the Code Book tonight, but after a short search on the web and this site I found that the code means "Low Idle Speed"

Now that I am aware of this... what could be causing this code? What sensor is screwing up?

Thanks, in Advance!
~Tom~

Check your air intake for restrictions. Clear the DTC.

Did you make any changes with the tuner to raise or lower RPM ?

I have cleared italready and just got back from a little drive. Airfilter is aK&N I cleaned it about 2-3 weeks ago, it pretty clean, and I always makesure not to OVER oil it to try and keep my MAF Sensor clean and free from over spray. I will make sure tom. to double check the Filter one more time, and even clean the MAF Sensor (gently of course) Im just kind of puzzled with this for the time being...... I have made no changes to the truck in the past several months, and the 1714 does not allow changes to the Idle Speed directly Is there such a thing as an Idle Control Sensor? I'll do more research tom. during my lunch break!

Thanks for the reply Anthony!

P0506 is actually saying that the commanded air was less than the what the engine actually got. It is a IAC code, but our vehicles do not have a Intake Air Control anymore, the electronic throttle body acts as a IAC. Our vehicles use the table function in the pcm: ISC, which is Intake Speed Control.

What i think happened: When SuperChips tuned for the vehicle they thought doing some 4.6l 2v owners a favor by trying to eliminate thier rough idle, which is direct relation to the ISC tables. To also clarify this you can monitor "spark" at idle. If you see the spark jumping around very quikly 5-10degree jumps, it means that it is trying to correct the "wrong" ammount of air coming into the system. Spark at idle "should" be smooth and not jump around.

You should be fine as long as nothing is in your intake path.

I guess my only other question is Why, after alomost 15,000 miles of running this superchip 1714,and mutliple re-programs from 91+ Perf. Tune to 87 Tuning would it start throwing a code? Nothing has been changed intake mod wise in the past several months...... I will definitely take a good look at it when I get back to the house this afternoon and recheck the Intake, and some of clamps, make sure it's not pulling any air from behind the MAF Sensor or something... just to be on the safe side
