New here, have some questions about the 04+ f-150

hey guys, i am new here from MI and have been kicking around the idea of selling my ranger for a 04+ FX4 F-150. I would be looking at getting a used one under 50,000 miles, would prefer the FX4 package, extended cab or 4 door, and it HAS to have the center console with the floor shifter! I love that idea!!

Anyway, is there anything i should know before looking/test driving them? Should i look into a 05 rather than an 04? What would be a reasonable price for one with the options i listed?

If i do get one i plan on putting a 7-8" lift on it with 37's. And a bunch of other goodies. Oh, does anyone know the rating of the front diff on the 04+ FX4's? I know on my ranger the front diff is a D35, so i cant really run much bigger than 35's lol.

Any input is appreciated!

oh here are some specs/pics of the ranger...

01 Ranger, 4x4 Offroad, 4 dr.
4" Superlift with stainless skid
3" Body Lift
15x10 DC-1s
35x12.50 ProComp MudTerrains
Colormatched Valances/Mirrors
Various Billet/Chrome items on interior/exterior
4.10 gears
4.0/auto trans

i hope i can get 14-15k for it

Thats good to know, seeing that the 8.8 is stronger than a d44.

What exactly did they update from 04 to 05? Thanks for the welcome everyone!!

How do you guys think this f-150 is - as far as the pics and the description? It has EVERYTHING i want! Plus is an 05 and its a killer deal.

Most of the changes were for vibrations, brake problems, that type of thing. The front calipers on the 04 are smaller. they made some drive shaft changes.

Definitely try to get an 05+ since they seem to have the bugs worked out that were in some of the 04 F150s.

Yep, but big enough that some wheels do not interchange. And I guess it made a difference, or they would not have made the change.
