HVAC supply problem: Ford says 5 minutes?
Ok folks, I need some help here. I will try to be short. My 04 Screw has a HVAC supply problem. If my air is coming out of the dash and I switch to defrost, feet or anything else it doesn't move. I have gone for several hours in the truck not being able to get the furnace blast off of my face.
I took the truck to the dealer twice. The second time my service advisor said that it could take FIVE MINUTES for the system to change delivery locations and that was NORMAL. I call BS on that but is that true?
I took the truck back a third time and saw a different advisor as my guy was away. The new advisor got in the truck and said that that there was definitely a problem and that they could fix it. He took care of ordering parts.
So I got a survey from Ford. I spoke the truth about the experience, and that I felt that the service advisor was blowing me off. I explained that I had purchased 5 new trucks from this dealer and that I expected that they should treat me as a valued customer and I didn't feel they had.
Monday I dropped the truck off and my original service advisor confronted me about the survey. He even went on to say that there was an official TSB from Ford indicating it was normal for it to take 5 minutes or more for the supply location to change from one to the other (defrost, dash, feet).
Is there such a TSB? Has anyone else experienced this issue and if so what was the response from your dealer? What should I do about it in terms of contacting the dealer/Ford about the responses I am getting from the service department?

You should call Ford and complain regarding the harassment. The advisor should not have approached you regarding your response just to enforce his original point. If possible, change dealerships. I don't care if there is a TSB about this. It is not acceptable.
That is NOT normal... I don't care what a any TSB says. I should be fixed.
I've said this before and flamed for it.. but I'll say it again. When I took my truck in for repairs or service work (warranty).. when I still had a warranty, I got the best results when I was a complete jacka$$. Honestly, If I went in there just trying to have them understand me; hoping they would take care of me, I would ALWAYS get the run around. If I'm a jacka$$ and really **** them off, my truck gets fixed and Im in and out quick.
Being nice with my local Ford service department is NOT the right way to go.

*in a sarcastic tone* Sweet. So if I'm driving down the road with the HVAC blowing on my face and feet and all of a sudden my windshield starts to fog up it could take up to five minutes for it to switch over. Thats just enough time for me to either get in an accident or for me to mis a curve and drive off a cliff. *sarcastic tone off*
I think the service guy was just blowing you off.

If this was normal. I'd make him show you one on the lot where it takes 5 minutes for it to switch over.

First off about him confronting you, I would have told him to get out of my face. Then I would have told him about the 5 vehicles that I purchased at that dealer and the only reason he has a job is because of loyal customers like you. If he wants to whine about something then make a formal complaint to his manager. Go as far as the owner of the dealership if you have to (making sure everyone knows about your loyalty).
As for the HVAC, 5 minutes to change, no way. 30 seconds maybe but even that would be extreme.
X2, challenge him to show you a single vehicle on the lot where the HVAC system takes 5 minutes to change settings.

I don't think its ignorance and stupidity on this particular issue. I think certain dealerships try to pawn it off as normal so they can do one of two things:
1. Hold off until after the drivers warranty is out. So they can make some good money off of the ignorance of the driver.
2. Pawn it off as normal so they can get another vehicle with more expensive problem in their service bin.

Some of these service writers just kill me with their ignorance and stupidity.
