When I was looking for gears for my truck the tallest ones that I remember seeing was 5.13s. If it were my I would probably go the 5.13s, I think the 4.88s might not be enough. Might be wrong but thats just my .02

FYI Tall gears are 3.08, short gears are 5.13, IMO. 5.13 is a heck of a lot of gear, although a 40 inch tire is one heck of a tire.

If you have the specs on the tires, try this link below. Your tranny is going to be 0.67 your final drive is going to be your gear set (4.88 or 5.13)

I plugged in my stock combo and it seemed to be right on.

use this formula

(new tire diameter/old tire diameter)*Old Gear Ratio= New Gear Ratio

I have also heard that a good rule of thumb is to take your tire diameter and multiply it by 0.12. Ex (40 * .12 = 4.8) so according to this you should run the 4.88

last time i looked the lowest gear you could get for the 9.75 rear is 4.88, but if they do make 5.13 then that is what you should get for 40", good luck

8" Rize suspension lift, 2.5 Donahoe racing spacer(Installed), 4" Skyjacker AAL, with minor trimming they'll fit

As for wheels im going with the 22x11 XD Series Diesels, and tires 40x15.5R22 Toyo M/T's

Considering Neal reports a top sped of over 150mph with 28-inch tires & 4.10s, you'll never come near redline with any gearset that's available if you run 40's.

I can't pull redline on 31-inch street tires and I've got a blower & 4.10s.

I think BigTruck is right...you may want to consider the shortest (highest numerically) gear that's available.

Your truck is gonna be huge. You gotta post some pics.
