I noticed when I pulled off the plastic where the message center is for the lariats that the wiring harness is there and connected to that piece of blank plastic. So question is, if I just buy the actual message center buttons and hook it up to my fx4 will it work with the console?

I am pretty sure you would need the new buttona and a new gauge cluster.

 

Nope, the FX4 cluster does not have the message center capabilities..
