Couple quick questions....I have the 4.6liter engine

What kind of mileage do you get?

How many miles per tank?

How much does it cost to top it off?

How much is gas prices in your area?

I drove it 60 miles and it dropped 1/4 a tank, im a little scared

 

i go about 425 to 450 on a tank and i got straight pipes and thats highway and city driving mixed but when i first got my truck my gas mileage sucked for the first 5000 miles... also it coasts anywhere from 45 to 60 dollars to fill up depending on the price of gas... gas was just $1.89 here and it was 45 to fill up

 

depends on if you drive mostly highway or city. my f150 scab has a 37 gallon tank and i drive it mostly highway for hunting purposes, which i can get over 500 miles per tankwhen driving pure highway. when i do drive it around town, the mileage is much much lower. but then again i have the 5.4 so i dont know how much this helps you.

oh and gas here in california is rediculous, its sad when i find gas for about $2.40 and its a good deal...and filling the tank here can be over 100 bucks so i rarely fill it

 

I drive 16 miles a day.....all highway, exit to exit

 

i forgot to mention i have the 26 gallon tank.... but you should too if you have the 4.6

 

I belive i have a 30 gal tank. I can ususally get 375 to 425 miles before my low fuel kicks on. I also have magnaflow exhaust and 34" nittos.

 

thats another thing if you really want to help your gas get a exhaust it saves alot of weight (you will see what i mean when you see the stock muffler) pluse its better air flow right now im running dual straight pipes and i did the free air flow mod... but im getting about 450 on alot of tanks and thats what i had when i had a flowmaster also

 

What would be a good exhaust for a 05, 4.6l, 4x4, supercab?

Flowmaster? Dynomax?

and how much does it normally run installed?

 

Mine is 5.4 fx4 so it likes gas. I only have 2700 miles on it so i'm hoping it'll get better but so far around town i've been getting 12 and 13 mpg:o
Really hope it gets better with a few thousand more miles

 

every f150 i have owned got bad gasmileage for the first 5000 miles then it slowly got better

the flowmaster 40 series would probley be what your looking for and i payed 500 for it installed. i think i cant remember

 

i have a 4.6 2wd supercab and i average about 14ish city and 17ish highway, and i do not have a leadfoot.

 

why not just buy the Banks Monster Exhaust for $479 and install it yourself? It's a much better exhaust with a much better tone than the flowmaster.

Back to the topic, I just filled up today for about $54.97, 23 gallons @ $2.39 per gallon. I got about 13.4 mpg mixed highway and city. I live near Los Angeles so LOTS of stop-and-go traffic.

That is bad.

I have the Screw 4x4 with 5.4 and 3.73 axle and my tank doesn't drop below 1/4 tank before 100 miles. Often I hit 120/130 on odomenter before it drops.

Either you are very heavy on the gas or something aint right. What is that like 8 gallons to 1/4 tank so you are getting 8 mpg or so? Should be almost 2x that...unless you are in 4x4 all the time or heavy on the gas.

If thats the case, you cannot do much better on mpg. Maybe a tuner, intake and exhaust will net you a couple mpg....

If you drove copnservatively with a 4.6 you should be getting at least mid teens to 20 or so on the hwy at a steady pace of 65-70.
