grinding/clunking noise going into 4wd??

Hey all, I just noticed today that when I put my truck (shift on the fly) into 4wheel high that it makes a grinding and clunking noise. It doesn't do it from a dead stop or higher speeds, but it does when i'm going pretty slow. Is something wrong with my transfer case or something? Has this happened to anyone else? I've never heard it before today, but then again I don't go into 4wd very much. Any suggestions?

Oh ya, it's an 04 fx4

If its "ice in a blender" sound when travelling in 2wd, then yes the solenoid is the problem. (had mine fixed 1 month ago)

But, if its a grind and then clunk (as is what happened to my SOF after the first repair above) my dealer replaced a spring in the front differential clutch plates (IIRC) and no more grinding or clunk in 4wd.

They also had told me the spring replacement was also listed under some TSB.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the help guys. It only grinds and clunks when going into 4wd. It doesn't do it when i'm in 2wd at all. I wasn't sure if something was wrong or just something i've never noticed before. A friend of mine borrowed my truck today and drove it off of a small concrete retaining wall about 1.5-2ft high and drug my tranny skid plate. It wasn't that big of a deal but i've been paranoid over every creak and rattle since.
