Question RE: SuperCab Rear Doors

So I keep seeing commercials from other brands advertising rear doors on their extended cab trucks that open 168 degrees or 175 degrees or whatever it may be. While it may just be something else to talk about on a commercial, does it really provide any benefit? My rear doors don't open at anywhere near that kind of angle, but they're not in the way. I really don't see what the big deal is about them opening at a wider angle, but maybe it's just me. Is there anyone with a scab who finds that their rear doors don't open wide enough and are in the way of something?

The only disadvantage I've found with the doors on my Scab is in tight spaces (like my garage) I have to move packages, groceries, whatever to the front seat so I can close the door to get out. Having a rear door that opened almost flat against the truck would be helpful in a situation like that.

Outside of that I don't see the big deal either. You still need to have enough room beside you to swing the door open.

I see a good deal of advantage to having the rear doors open till almost flat against the side. When carrying passengers, I have to find spots in parking lots that will allow me and my passengers to unload the truck without playing games. When loading groceries into the cab having flat-folding doors would be a great help when parked next to other autos. You can pull the buggie all the way up without the door being in the way. And finally when cleaning the interior it would make it easier to vacum without getting caught up.

I got rid of my supercab for the same reason. When in parking lots, I couldnt get out of the truck without doing the door shuffle. If two people jumped out of the truck at the same time, they had to get really close to squeeze the suicide door closed so that they can get out of the space.
Infant seats really stink when trying to get them out of the s/c. A guy I work with had a baby, got a crew.

The ~180 degree opening will allow you to scoot out then close the doors.
Ford should go the dodge route and just make everything with the four doors, but not the small rear door. Its a stiffer and possible safer design to have a center pillar.

Same here. I've noticed in parking lots I have to open the front door,

open the rear door,

partially close the front door,

put stuff on the back seat,

close the rear door partially,

open the front door all the way,

then close rear door.

Doesn't happen very often, but still a pain when I have to do it.
