04+ F150 Online Tech Manuals

I recently received a transfer case for $390, and a steering rack for $125, thats with shipping. Now the install, just in case I run into problems does anyone have a membership that I can borrow to that online vehicle manual website? I think it's autozone who has this website, or something auto. Carquest...I just can't remember. If someone wouldn't mind allowing me to borrow or print out the service manuals from that website I'd really appreciate it.

I think the website I'm looking for is AllData. Anyone with an account?

If not anyone know what to look out for while swapping the transfer case, do I need to drain the transmission before mounting the two together? What about seals/gaskets, etc. As for the steering rack do I need to calibrate where the steering wheel is center/straight before installing. I know I need a service manual for these installs unless there is a master tech who can help me here with a little info.

No, you don't need to drain the transmission. There is a gasket that goes between the transfer case and transmission.

Regarding the rack, center the wheel before unbolting anything, and don't let it turn otherwise you may break the clockspring. Count the number of turns when spinning the outer tie rods off the old rack (if you're reusing them) and spin them back on the new rack the same number of turns to get somewhere in the general area. Then go get it aligned.

Thanks a ton whitecrystal for the scans. I swapped the transfer case without a hitch. The top bolts attached to the tranny are a mother to get to, and thank God I engaged the parking brake. When I removed the rear driveshaft the truck was about to roll down on us (I had no choice but to do it on the slanted driveway). Unfortunately, as I presumed, the tcase was only half the problem. One or both hubs are also damaged, I'm not sure how to diagnose which is damaged but they're both clunking while engaged. I'll keep this thread updated.

Quintin, fluid does come out on both ends of the tcase, would have been best if I drained.

You said transmission, you didn't say anything about the transfer case. Draining the transfer case goes without saying.
