This is my lights from an old post. If you want to go simple, tie into the trailer plug at the backup lead, weatherproof, mount the bulbs, ground. Done.

Cool thing is you can run wires in the frame. Makes it easy, clean and safe.

I drilled a couple of holes as far back as I could in the bumper and bolted them on. They use a carriage head to keep the bolt from turning in the light mount. I added a washer becasuse the head was affecting the turning of the lamp.

Two problems: Wiring harness patially missing, but I plan to do custom wiring AND I had a left over harness from the previous similar lights. It pays to be a packrat once in a while. The inside of the bumper gets pretty tight back in there. I had to use a slim and long socket to make it all work, but its doable. I could even get my hand in there if I did it just right.

I havent done the wiring yet. I plan to have a relay activate the lights in reverse and to have a manual switch to use as utility ligths. The rocker switch that was included is not bad, but I want something a little better looking. I am going to check physically at west marine and online.

I tried to take a before and after from the cab, but I couldnt get it to come out. From outside the truck you can hardly notice the stock lights with the aux ones on. From inside it does light up the corners of the truck high up like near a wall or another vehicle.

Here is what I came up with for the dash. These were my second choice on switches. I wanted a round one with a round bezel, but I could only find one locally. I got the ones you see here from discount auto parts. I bought a blue, red and an amber. The blue is going to be for my lights and the red is going to activate the inverter I plan to someday mount. Both switches can carry 25 amps, but they will only activate relays.

I grounded the switches to a piece of bracket holding in the sat radio. I tied into the cigarette lighter lead for the hot wire for both switches and I can plug in and out the harnesses that you see here. In the event that I will remove the bezel again. I used a lot of wiring from the 2 light kits that I had on hand. I fused the switches with a 2.5 amp glass fuse. I ran a white wire from the kit to the location for the inverter and a grey wire for the backup lights to keep the wiring some what straight. They both run down the passenger side wire channel.

I solder all connections that I make. I did not modify any of the kit connections that were already made. I bought a micro torch to help with the soldering. Neat little thing.

Here's what I run. They're run off a separate switch (see more pics in my gallery) in the cab instead of being wired into the reverse light circuit. Being higher up really seems to help. Star calls these "Takedown Lights" in their catalog, but nobody said they had to face forward.
