2007 Headlight Condensation

Just took delivery of my new 2007 FX2 in the rain. Drove it home and found condensation in both headlights. Just a fog--not enough to call water. Odd part is, all the fog was in the regions below the headlight projection.

The next day, Sunday, was sunny and the condensation went away.

Is this bad? Should I get the capsules replaced under warranty? Anyone else have the same issue with their stock headlight capsules?

Thanks,
Ruben

Huh... I'd get them replaced if they do it again. Probably have to take it to ford while there is proof of rain inside of them though.

Yes, it seems to be a common problem on most of Ford's vehicles. I'd certainly get them replaced if I were you.

I had the same thing but in the rear taillight lens, eventually it started to remove the chrome backing (turned it black). Ford replaced both lens.

Very bad! Have them replaced right away. The condensation will leave water spots on the inside glass and/or the chrome panel in the headlight. This will create and unsightly mess as that chrome easily comes off.

You don't want this becoming a larger, more noticeable problem when you get constant rain.

I have only had that happen once in my 06 model, it was while I had been playing in the mud and I noticed it while hoseing off the truck, I just left the headlights on for a while and the next day it was gone, no other problems before or after that one time.

The headlights are not a sealed system, they are vented to equalize pressure,(Air can flow in and out) depending on your climate, it is normal to get some condensation in the lighting. As per Fords recommendation it can take up to an hour to get rid of condensation.Obviousily if it is excessive they may be a seal problem.
