help fast!!!!

well tomorrow i hope to go get my new truck. but i was wondering since it has a 10k rebate if i can still haggle them down (its a 06 screw 4x4 lariat) the sticker is 43k, so that will bring it down to 33k, but can i get it lower? what should i say if they tell me well its already 10k off. dont they get the 10k back from ford??? so if they sell it to me for 33k and they get 10k back as a rebate then they still sold it for 43k right? or am i wrong, please help me out, thanks

Go to Fords Website and put the same truck together. It will tell you the invoice for the truck. Then start there. Have them take 10000 off the invoice. Yes, they will get the rebate money back.

Here's what I would do. Go to at least two dealerships.
Dealership A - 1st Dealer
Dealership B - 2nd Dealer

Go to A and tell them what you are looking for get their price quote. Go down to B and tell them you went to Dealer A and got a price quote (don't tell them what it is). See if Dealer B can beat it. If not, go back to dealer A.

Or you can just say to Dealer A. Your the first stop of my day. I'm going down to dealer B later and see what they can do for me before I sign any papers.

thats a good idea but the truck i want is only at this one dealership about an hour away, and the funny thing is that they have 3 of the exact trucks there, i mean everything to the color. i think that invoice was 36k if i remember right. so i should say 26k plus tt&l. so the dealer wouldnt lose any money on that deal right?

They shouldn't. My little brother just bought a Ford Escape by doing this exact thing. They started at invoice, and then subtracted from there. They even gave him Xplan which was another 500 off. They might go up a little over invoice because they are wanting to make SOMETHING, but I would just tell them you are willing to pay invice minus discounts. Of course you would then tack on tax and title fees.

They won't lose any, but they won't make any (or much) either...

if you're putting any money down, don't let them know it. Figure out what the payments are going to be and get them where you want them. Then once you have agreed on the price, and you're to the payment/financing part, then put your money down. I did that after they worked and worked to get my payments to $350/mo. Then I laid down $2000. They couldn't believe it because they had worked so hard to get me in my truck. Not only that, but I locked in 0% for 60 months.

Not to be a **** or anything but just where exactly did you hear that? The rebate does NOT go back to the dealer as profit. It is the customer's money to use to lower the bottom line on the vehicle. Bw if you can buy that truck for 29000 to 29500 after rebate then its a good deal.

Hey SAJEFFC,
I really could care less if they get the money back. But thanks for reading my post in excruciating detail. The bottom line is that you can start at invoice and work from there. Ford is doing their best to dump trucks right now. Now, if Ford is willing to give away a 10,000 rebate, I doubt the dealer is taking the loss. But as I said before, I could care less where the money goes. I do know though that I just did this with another vehicle (read my previous post about my brother).

i think you guys have 'invoice' confused for msrp...you don't get $10,000 off invoice on a $43k vehicle

typically, those who purchase based on invoice will start with this figure and go up or down a couple hundred dollars at most...
