I am purchasing a 2005-2006 f-150 i am in the process of selling my 1972 bronco for the f-150. I plan to put a rize 8inch lift and run 37's. What all do i need to do with an 8inch lift. what kindof engine mods will help me gain the hp taken away from 37inch tires. Gears??

The only thing you will need is the extended brake lines to make the kit work, which is around $100. I needed to get an extended rear driveshaft to get an annoying vibration go away but plenty of other people haven't experienced this but some others have. Just wait to see if you need it before you start freaking out. I've been running the factory 3.73LS with no problems granted I do have an Edge, Exhaust, and an Airaid Jr. If you are going to change gears, go with 4.56s or 4.88s. I hope this helps!

 

thumper how does your truck do on the interstated with the 3.73's. constantly downshifting to make up power or do you hp mods cover the gap?

also at what speeds do you travel when on the interstate.

 

The only time my truck will downshift on the highway is at WOT.

I'm usually cruising around 75 mph, why? It's smooth up to higher speeds though.

Do you plan to wheel? Just look at it this way, I grenaded my tcase (not cheap), and had transmission problems trying to run over 100mph with 3.73's on 37's.

Story is as follows. My turkish friend was driving my truck, while myself drunk and a couple girls were in pass seats. He hits about 110 and the message center starts beeping, the turk exclaims "JJ, it's saying Transmission Manufacture...erelkjelr" sorry i don't know how to spell an accent. Killed my buzz because the truck started shaking and he was getting nervous slowing down, I look at the message center and it really reads, "Transmission Malfunction." I wanted to cry, quite the antonym of manufacture you focker. It's been fine since but it didn't feel good reading your computer tell you your tranny ain't doing so hot. It's constant WOT at those speeds, and you're in overdrive to boot, a lot of bogging at those speeds. This might be irrelevant but it's a funny story so I think.

Regearing will save you a lot of life on your transmission, engine and transfercase depending how excited you get behind the wheel ;]

 

thumper if you can get them to you for 15 go for it. I talked to brett and by the time he ships to me i ship to you and tax even were going to be above 1500. only thing is he has sold his last set so they will have to be custom ordered. 5-10 business days and he said he could have them ready to ship.

I am curious about your interstate driving because i may be making a move to gainsville and if i do I will be commuting alot. I drive alot (25k a year), and i am rethink 38's because i dont perticurily want to regear the truck anymore.I am also scared on 38's it will be too scary above 80. I have a lead foot and was curious as to how her road manners are at high speeds.
