Hello all.. I own a 2004 150-Lariat.. Ive noticed on the new 07 f150's they come with Chrome side mirror caps as part of a chrome package .. I called my dealer and found out that they can be purchased and installed on my vehicle as well, but they weren't overlays id have to actually remove that section from the mirror and snap the new ones in.. Can anyone tell me how to remove the original mirror cap to install a chrome one? Does the whole mirror have to be removed and disconnected or can it be popped out somehow? Any reply is much appreciated.. Thank you.

 

The 2007 mirrors are different than the 2004-2006. The 2007 you can remove the skull cap, whereas the other model mirrors are a complete cap/shell.

You can hack it, but they are meant for 2007 mirrors only.

 

Anthony ty for your reply..When i called the dealer i didnt specifly that i wanted the chrome mirror cap for and 04 lariat, i assumed 2004-2007 mirrors are the same, they look exactly the same. So i was figuring the cap was removable and one would fit mine..this is the first i heard there different mirrors..are they really?

 

They are different. When the 07' parts came out, Anthony and I were looking at this exact thing via IM... I was considering getting the 07' caps for my truck but, I'd have to replace the entire mirror assembly to my recollection.
