Any one changed fuel filter?

I was doing my fuel filter last night and it was a pain in the butt pulling the blue plastic clip out. In doing so, I broke off pieces of the black coupling that connects to the filter. I got a fram filter and the plastic clip they gave me doesnt seem to fit or work, almost too big. Has anybody else had this problem. I ended up connecting the fuel line to the filter with plastic zip ties, just as a temp. fix. My connector or coupling is so jacked up I think I need to replace it, or if I cant do that, then the entire fuel line.

Ok well, my blue clip is ruined. Ford wants $170 for a new fuel line and that is the only way to get a new blue clip. Does napa or any other parts place have a replacement clip that fits?
Obviously Im not the only one who broke his clip, what did you guys do about it? HELP!

One guy used the plastic tie as a replacement for the blue clip. It just needs something to keep it from sliding off over the end of the tube. The tie went down in the grove where the clip had been and achieved this. Other than that I do not know. Do a search on fuel filter replacement and see if there are other suggestions.
