I took my 05 5.4 to to Indiana one day after buying it and I got about 14mpg at 75-80 sometimes hitting 90. I am looking at getting new bed cover to increase my gas mileage a little. As for gas prices I live in Gainesville VA and I dilled up for 1.98/gal. It has been down in the 1.80 range a few weeks ago.

Think about it. Larger diameter tire equals more road traveled per revolution. Now you have to factor in the additional weight and the mods I've done take care of most of it, although I did lose about 2.5mpg after lifting on the highway, and a lot more in town. Patshea is on 38's, he regeared to 4.56's and is still getting 18mpg on the freeway. Keep in mind 55mph nets me much better mileage than @ 60mph. I get about a 2.5 mpg difference at those speeds, anything above that it drops much lower. @ 90mph I get around 4-5mpg...at 115 I'm burning gallons per mile. Can't go much faster than that anymore.

I have been tracking my gas milage online since I bought my truck a year ago. The best I have seen is 19.2 mpg on straight highway driving at about 75-80 mph. Most of my driving is about 30% stop and go and 70% highway and I normally get around 16 mpg. The worst I have seen since I started tracking it was 13.8 mpg.

I'm not sure of my MPG but I know this, If you keep it at or below 2k RPM (about 69 MPH for me) I get noticeable increase in fuel economy. Trips that take 3/8 of a tank at 75-80 MPH, round trip, I've done with 1/4 tank at 69 or a little slower. I think the MPG depends on your engine RPM more importantly.

Just filled up the 06 for the first time since I bought it and got 16.7mpg on the 1st tank. I would say that is with a mix of city/highway driving. I will say that I do see allot of stop and go traffic on the highway though....

My 04 and my 06 both get pretty poor mileage, 12-13 MPG in town and 15-16MPG highway. I am still amazed that it is 2007 and Ford hasn't been able to produce an F150 that can get better mileage than that.

Fuel Mileage

Interesting reading all of these responses. I've noticed with my truck, I was getting 15-16mpg mostly city driving. Last weekend I towed my Volvo wagon up to Thunderhill raceway with a steel flat bed trailer and tools and such in the bed. I put 331 miles on it and was surprised it got 13.4 mpg. I expected a much lower average. Tire pressure makes a huge difference. But for that matter, fuel type and air temp do also.

Here is a brake down of my mileage figures. When running my summer wheel tire combo (325/60/18 on 18X9 Helos) I average 14mpg mixed city/hwy and average 16.5 when running all hwy. When I put my stock wheels/tires (275/65/18 AT/S's on factory FX4 wheels) back on I have been getting 15.5 mixed city/hwy and 17.5 on all hwy. I had an all time best of 18.7mpg just before christmas.

The all time lowest MPG that I have seen was 12.2 mpg, that was this past summer when I was pulling our Bobcat around lot.
