Defroster switch on 04 Lariat (EATC)

When I want to turn on the front defroster, I punch the button and the little light comes on.

How do I turn it off ?

Also, when I turn the entire climate system off, when I turn it back on, it makes a squealing noise that sounds like its coming from the blower motor bearing. Lasts about 2 seconds and then quits.

Any one experienced this ?

In response to your first question, if you press the "AUTO" button, it will turn off your defroster.

In response to your second question, I don't have a definitive answer, but I can tell you from experience with other cars that had an AUTO option. There is a small motor that changes from floor to vent and off. When you turn the system off, it "parks" the motor and the flappers. There is a foam sealant on the flappers that drags on the plastic as you re-engage the system. This happened on my Lexus, and they told me they COULD fix it, but it would be expensive (tear apart the whole dash to get to the flappers). I hope that helps, at least the first question I know the answer to.

To turn off the front defogger either hit the "Auto" button as already suggested or you can change to a different difuser mode manually (ie: vents, floor, whatever).

Mine also make the plasticy, squeeky noise at start up...more so when it's cold. I was thinking of getting it addressed under waranty but thought better of it after considering what they would have to take apart to get at it. Basically I don't trust them enough and the little noise doesn't bother me that much. I figured it was just the difuser diverter rubbing as it moved. No biggy!

I would not be worried about them pulling apart the dash. These trucks are very modular, easy to take down and reassemble.
The blower motor can be pulled out for testing in about one minute. Lots of older cars were not practical to disassemble the dash, but on these trucks they are almost kit like. I have pulled my dash apart several times and no squeaks or problems. You can pull the glove box with two screws, the kick panel under the driver with six screws, the top of the dash by pulling on it.
A squeak in the blend doors probably will get worse. A noise from the motor is a snap to fix. Let the dealership at least look at it under warranty.
