what gears??????
I have the Yukon "Arctic Gears" in 4.56. I haven't gotten on it yet as I'm still in the break in period, but I think I've touched on 500 miles. I still have yet to redo the speedo, but so far I'm very impressed and it was a mod well worth doing.
With the larger tires I'd look into the 4.88's as well. If you are going to spend the money, might as well get that extra performance out of them.
I paid a premium for mine but didn't have many options up here in Alaska. $2200 installed but they replaced about everything down there.

4.56 = 1830 rpm @ 60 mph
4.88 = 1950 rpm @ 60 mph
5.13 = 2050 rpm @ 60 mph
1830 rpm @ 60 mph works well with 30-32" tires
1950 rpm @ 60 mph works well with 33"-35" tires
2050 rpm @ 60 mph works well with 36-38" tires
Ideal rpm changes with load. The larger tires increase overall weight, rotational inertia, and aerodynamic drag.

so you are saying that these trucks should come stock with 4.56 gears?
A 2wd SCab with 29.9 Tires needs 4.10
3.73 is to tall.
Add in the extra weight of 4x4, 31.6" tires and sometimes Screw and yes it needs 4.56
The only factory Ford Truck with a gas motor that have enough gear are the V-10's with 4.30.

I recommended 4.56 for the factory 32's on the FX4. 2400 rpm @ 70 mph.

You really think 4.88 would be to much gear for you? 2600 rpm @ 80 mph?
We must just have different expectations. I guess it comes from growing up running 31's on 3.73's or 36's on 4.56's with no overdrive. Even with a 460 / 5 spd with Granny Low I found 4.10 to be to tall with 33's.
Maybe its because I generally dont run over 70 mph in lifted 4WD vehicles.

yeah i hear what your saying, over here in cali, you need to be above 70 to keep up with free way traffic and 2600 rpms at 80 would be great but kill mpg......i would love 4.88's on my 35's...but mpg would suck
