thanks a lot lumadar, my friend who was dd said exactly what you said it's funny you posted it. NTx, thanks I'm sure that has something to do with it, the truck lifted does not handle well at all at that speed so be careful. Before the lift it handled decent at almost 135-140 and those were near bald tires.

How long were you on it hard? I have the Edge and one of my display parameters is Trans temp. I have noticed that the temp rises faster on even a short high speed burst than towing a heavy load. On one 70-115 blast the temps went up almost 30 deg. My truck is nearly stock, yours is modded so you are putting a much higher load on your driveline at high speeds than I am. The added wind resistance and added weight of the big mud tires could be more than enough to overheat your tranny fluid. I would recommend that you inspect your fluid, if it looks dirty or smells burnt get it flushed.

As a person who cares about others, I mentioned in a thread last week to wear seatbelts... Josiah did not understand why I care about others and that they should wear their seatbelts... as with this thread I care about others and I will say don't speed excessively with big trucks like these that may or not may not be lifted, no one needs to die because of the speeding. I will use up server space with posts like this if it will save a life, even if it is off topic.

Josiah, I would check the transmission fluid as a few others mentioned. I am sure it got pretty hot. The lift and wheels and tires adds a lot of stress to the transmission already considering you have stock gears. I would suggest at least checking the fluid and go from there. Good luck.

Then how come nobody ever post all this advice about safety in a thread about how to remove their dash or door panels? It'd be off-topic there as well.

Does anyone know the exact temperature that you'd need to check it or replace it? I've had mine up to 185 on a 300 mile drive going 70-90 mph.

Thats regular temps for my tranny in summer here I ve pulled 210 going though the pass to the dunes with my 24 foot trailer. I let out after that but I though that was pretty good that trailer weighed a lot with 2 big quads one small one a full bed of parts wheels cloths 8 gals gas and 8 gals of water. I got 3/4 the way up at 75 befor I pulled out.
edit I dont think you need to worrie 'tell about 215 I think but I could be wrong. someone once posted a thermometer with at what points to worrie about probems.

The "thermostat" block is fully open around 180* on the tranny and both the tranny and engine are set to roughly 240* before any overtemp codes will be thrown.

Josiah, you could have just set the "overspeed" code.

Newsflash: This is NOT a forum dedicated to the advancement of the quality of living in America- it's for helping people fix, fix-up, and enjoy their trucks.
Im not helping them do chit with their truck if they are going to go blowing past me at 120+ MPH in it.

Because removing your door panels wont get innocent people killed.

Lumadar, I know you dont condone speeding.
But if you never say any thing to people who use the public roads as their own personal race track, It kind of is condoning it.

Why your refusing to comment on Josiahs lack of common sense, but more then willing to jump all over those who respond is completely beyond me.

This kid is going to hurt himself, and probably some body else.

Since I use public roads myself, I feel that I have every right to comment.

After all, Its my life that Josiah has decided is worth putting at risk.....

OH and Josiah, I think you diagnosed the problem perfectly.

before we got there my gauge started flashing "Transmission Malfunction" hope it was a dummy warning because its working normal.
