Ford alarm problem...
I have a stock Ford alarm installed on my truck, and when I run my battery down to a certain point (almost dead) I go to turn my truck on and the alarm cuts the engine off and sounds the horn. In order to fix this I have been undoing the "ground" bolt to the alarm, jumping the truck, then reconnecting the battery. Anyone else have this problem?
One more question about the Yellow top optima battery since I wasnt getting an answer in the other post...I only drive around 5 to 10 miles a day, will this be enough to charge up the battery so it wont crap out?

The alarm is not preventing the vehicle from starting. Your dead battery is the problem. Alarms take VERY LITTLE power to operate. When your battery is low enough to not start, there still is enough current to power the alarm. This is what is happening:
You disarm alarm.
You get in vehicle and turn key to start engine.
ALL the power in the battery is used in an effort to start the truck (which effectively removes power from the alarm) but it does not start. You let go of the key and the alarm triggers because the battery has enough power to operate the alarm and it thinks it was disconnected.
Replace your dead battery. If your vehicle is parked for extended periods, start using a Battery Tender Plus. It will keep the battery charged without damaging it.

from what I read, the yellow top Optima is not the best battery as your only (primary) battery since it's a deep cycle battery. They're better used as a second battery set up with an isolator switch. You might have been better off if you got the red top Optima instead.
Well I have yet to purchase the Optima battery yet. So I dunno which one I will be going with. As far as the alarm problem...it always happens when I run my truck with the stereo on and engine off. The engine starts to crank and when its about to start, the alarm shuts it down and goes off. Meanwhile it also makes all my gauges shutter.
