Daytime Running Lights

Before anyone suggests it, I did a seach on this. I found plenty of info -- on the web and in these forums. However, I didn't find a definitive answer.

For safety & insurance reasons, I want to add Daytime Running Lights to my 2005 FX-4. The only thing I know is that it does not currently have them. In the threads I found on here I found some pretty details sketches of where the resistor & loopback plug are supposed to be; when I pop the hood i don't find anything that would resemble either behind the drivers headlight. On someone's sig I found the part number F6SZ-13B218-AA. On the net it appears to go for ~$60.

Can someone walk me thru the procedure? I'm not interested in an aftermarket setup, and I'm not interested in redoing any wiring. I know I can throw something over the sensor and make the headlights stay on constantly when in AUTO. I'm also aware it would be cheaper for me to just turn my headlights ON when I'm in the truck. If I do this I want to use the Ford system, and Ford system only. Thanks

Take it to your dealership. They'll do it for about $150.00 to $175.00, that included parts. The parts kit about $75.00 if you want to do it your self. :santa: :santa:

I added it to mine. The OEM part# is F6SZ-13B218-AA. I don't know any other way you can do it other than to splice wires. That's what the kit requires you to do.
There are 7 wires

Unit...............Truck
1, Black .........goes to ground
2, Red............goes to a constant 12v circuit, Yellow wire (ignition switch harness)
3, Red/Green....goes to ignition circuit, Green/Yellow wire (ignition switch harness)
4, Brown..........goes to the parking lamp circuit, Brown wire (main light switch)
5, Purple..........goes to the Parking break circuit, Light green/Red wire (Parking break switch, turns them off when break is set)

6, Red/Black....goes to the low beam circuit, Red/Yellow wire (multi-function switch harness)
7, Grey/Red......also goes to the low beam circuit, Red/Yellow wire (multi-function switch harness)
For modules with second headlamp output only. Grey/Red to the left headlamp low beam output. Red/Black to the right low beam output.

I bought mine on ebay for 40$ brand new

I asked State Farm about getting the discount if I installed DRL's and they said if the truck didn't have it on there from the factory they could not give the discount. They told me that they verify it by the VIN number.
