I beleive that thread was for the piece of leather that someone is selling on eBay. Its not a Ford part. That piece of leather then needs to be wrapped around the shifter and sewn up. Since I drive a truck, ergo I cant sew, I just put in the new shifter handle cover.

I simply replaced the shifter handle on my 2007. This was easy because the quadrant (all the gusts between my new handle and the cable that goes to the tranny) seems to be changed for 2007 to match the Mark LT.

I dont think it would be feasible to swap the quadrant and mechanism.

Maybe try calling these parts guys:

Ed at Millennium Ford 800-562-5250
-or-
Mike at Directfordparts.com 1-800-532-0819

Keep in mind that my F150 is a 2007 and I used the 2007 LT shift ****.

Hope this helps.

shifter rip off

I am having the same problem as labman. I went to the dealer and they told me it would be $86. If someone from the old post could help us out on this one it would be great because it seems like ford is selling the same part for 8x the price.

Local dealers will charge you full list price on these. Got my part from Mike La Dow at Gaudin Ford, directfordparts.com. He does alot of mail order. Tell Mike Elliott from San Diego referred you. He is on 1-800-532-0819.

Remember, this is an EZ mod for a 2007 F150 and a pain in the but exercise in plastic parts fabrication for 2005-2006 F150's.

Good luck!!

I did this mod, it looks and feels fantastic. It wasn't too bad of an install, broke a small spring clip but fixed it in the end.

has anyone looked into the explorer shifter. my wifes 06 explorer have a leather wrapped shifter with the same push button as the 04-06 f150. the only downfall is that the explorer's "OD" button is on the left side of the shifter.....might be worth the hassle of making the LT shifter work to just cover a small hole?????....i guess since i am the one asking this.....i might be the guinea(sp) pig and look into it and try it.......i will keep yall posted......

_______

checking online stores that part number doesn't come up. Doesn't look like a typical ford part number. Any other clues?
