start up problem

ok, this has happened probably 2-3 times in the last 10-15 startups

when i put the key in the ignition and turn it, the engine makes the regular noise, but right before it turns over, it will go really quite for a second or two and then start up after hesitating....or it just will stop and i have to try again. however, right after it happens, if i turn it off, and right back on, it fires up with no problem.
any one know what is wrong? i dont want to take it to the dealership and it not happen there without know what it might be

THANKS!!!

This has happened to me a few times, never seems to be under any consistent circumstances. I've had it checked at the dealership, but they said they couldn't find anything. It seems like their standard answer is "If something is really wrong, it'll break eventually, then we can fix it." So we'll see...

Happened to me again just yesterday. Only happens when the truck sits for a few minutes after being driven (getting gas, quick trip inside grocery store, etc). Same thing also happened on my 2003 Mustang GT. The dealer could never find anything wrong with it because they couldn't duplicate the problem.
