keyless entry access numbers

Sorry if this question has been asked before but I could not find any information. I own a 2004 f150 fx4 super crew with keyless entry. I bought this vehicle used and can't use the keyless pad without access numbers to reprogram it. On older models these were above the accelerator. The dealer tells me that the only way to do it on 04 and newer is to have them hook it to their computer. Is this correct or are the numbers hidden somewhere? Thanks for the help

Yep. The numbers are written on the Body Security Module which is behind the backseat on the back cab wall. Unfortunately the back seat is a biotch to get out! Oh and welcome to the forum.

When I bought my 04 new, There was a card in the black pouch with the owners manual that had access numbers on it. As a matter of fact, It's still in there. So you might want to check and see if you got lucky and someone left it in there.

Its not that hard to take out. There are two clips that hold the backrest on along with the seatbelt housing up top that has to come off.

And you can find some instructions at this guys site.

It is technically called the Body Control Module (BCM) -OR- Vehicle Security Module (VSM). Not BSM.

(Please don't take this post directly; as it is intended to help others from calling it something it is not.)

I called it several other names when I was trying to get to it (the first time removing the rear seat).

Can someone help me with the rear seat back removal? I've already read all the threads I could get my hands on.

When I put the screw driver in and push on the clip is it suppose to click or lock or something. Then do I lift up or pull forward or kick the crap out of the seat back to get it out. I can feel the clip flexing but then what? The back is not moving. Do I have to remove something else first?

dang I just need the damn code for the door lock....grrrrrr

Thanks

I need this too... I tried to get the seat out but it was being a BI$#% and it was cold outside so I just bagged it.

When I went to the dealer he didnt want to help to much and I forgot to push it as I was dealing with another maintenance issue at the time.

once you press in the clip simply push down (give it a firm push) on the top of the seat (head rest area) and then lift up. You will have to pull it a little forward so it doesnt relatch when you go to do the other side.

If you didn't get the screwdriver in the hole to psh the clip in, try to walk the srewdriver from the metal bracket until you find the slot. Once you get it the first time it's not that bad. When you get it pushed in shove the seat down a little then pull up on it.

Huge thanks

Thanks to this thread, I finally got my access code. Very helpful, I wish I had known about this site 2 years ago.
