Exclamation Brake Dust.

Is it me or do you guys also see all the brake dust on every newer F-150?
Just look at them when they drive by when your sitting at the next traffic light.
I think they look like hell.
I am thinking of buying an "07" and I hope they get that fixed.
Must be Ford bought their pads from "Tommy Boy".

brake dust is bad from years 04 and up.

I think its just from cheepo pads or something. I know my 04 truck was horrable with front brake dust.

its a very simple fix though, just go out and buy a set of ceramic brake pads. There easy to instal and not to expesive to buy.

if thats all you have to complain about is brake dust on a truck, then I say your going to have a hell of a nice truck if thats all you don't like.

It's not just the F-150's -- it's all new Fords in general! Easily my biggest pet-peeve with the Blue Oval......

As long as the truck stops, I personally don't care.

I bought some Porterfield brakes and VERY little dust from them. I have had them on for ATLEAST a year and there is still alot of pad left. Very good investment in my opinion.

I don't think the dust is that bad. Buy a BMW if you want to expierience really bad brake dust. The reason behind it is a soft compound brake pad that provides superior braking ability. A fair tradeoff in my opinion. Also IMO aftermarket brake pads that claim less dust ALMOST always do not provide the same stopping power or pedal feel. I would stick with OEM pads unless you were upgrading to a big brake kit, which by the way has as much if not more brake dust than stock. But then, to each their own.

I went with Powerslot rotors and Hawk pads. Very little dust from the pads and better stopping than stock.

I had a Mercedes Benz SLK320 and the dust was ridiculous, damn German cars. i had to wash the wheels every other day, literally. I bought a set of Rotex Gold brake pads and never had another problem, better stopping power as well, less fade too. i changed the rotors out to EBC dimpled and slotted as well, but i dont think that had any contributing factor to less dust, I dont know if Rotex makes pads for our truck but if its an issue for some people its definaltly a sound investment. I definatly agree that if thats your only complaint about a TRUCK then you're definitly ahead of the game.

I've had the Thermo Quiet brake pads on for a little over 2 weeks now. No brake dust at all. I would suggest replacing the cheapo OEM pads ASAP. I was a little weary of the wear and heat issues some people have with ceramics so I went with semi-metallics. $35 - Oreilly Auto.

I put Kleen Wheels on my 2005 and never had a problem again. I am tired of the dust on my 2007 now, but because I haul a trailer sometimes, I hate to go ceramic after hearing they do not stop as well. I have thought of putting Kleens on this 2007 as well, but I want to see painted calipers. Well, guess I can't have best of both worlds. Kleen Wheels it may be... again. I hate dirty OWL's and chrome wheels.

Kleen Wheels, never a speck of brake dust. Had mine on for about a year now. Almost forgot what it was like to clean the wheels. I was doing it every second time I drove the truck...

I notice about one in four 'dime-a-dozen's have really dirty front wheels. The other three are clean. I think if you wash the trucks at least once or twice a month the wheels look normal. But leave them a month or two and the fronts look terrible.
