Anybody have the number for Ford? I'm done with the dealer, they told me it sounds just like another truck of theirs.

My 2004 was quiet when i purchased it. At 1200 miles I aquired a wind noise from windshield, center, top. Replace the windshield and all was quiet for 19000 miles. Wind noise came again and now dealership says its normal. Some nights on my way home through the country its so loud it hard to hear the radio.

I have slight wistle on the highway. I didnt know if its coming from the suicide back doors or the windshield. The most annyoying noises I have is my passenger seat with a vibrating noise and some ccrazy noise under the driver side of the dash intermittently. My 04 supercrew was extremely quite though.

Well, per the local dealer, the windshield has been out twice and resealed. I noticed razor marks on the right A-pillar and this morning after last nights rain, the passenger footwell is wet under the carpet. Back to the dealer tomorrow.

I found this thread through the "SEARCH" feature...

My '04 was very quiet for an XL without carpet, so I thought an '06 XLT would be as quiet or quieter. My new '06 has the +40 mph wind noise coming from the bottom of the windshield area. At first, I thought that it was because the windshield wipers were at an odd angle, so I had the dealer switch them so they were horizontal. The noise is still there. I was planning on removing the wipers to see if this was the problem, but after reading a few of these threads, it sounds like I have a leaking windshield.

Wind noise follow up.

So the noise is pretty much gone. Here's what I did. Note I say "I", not the dealer. Originally took it to the dealer because my skid plates were oily and I traced that to a PS line. While there, I asked that the drivers side cowling get replaced because, like probably ALL of the newer trucks, it was no longer flush and wouldn't mate with the passenger side cowling anymore. (17,600 miles, BTW) I told them at that time that I had this strange wind noise from 40MPH up. They replaced both cowlings, and kept the truck for 8 days trying to fix the wind noise. They had the windshield out twice for resealing. While this was done, the glass shop guy tore up the passenger side interior molding with a razor blade. Had the truck for the weekend, and the noise was even worse. Rained on that Sunday and the truck leaked water into the passenger footwell. Obviously, I took it back on Monday. They kept it for 7 more days. At first, they said they couldn't duplicate the leak and the wind noise was normal. I had the shop guy drive me around on the freeway with a brand new truck. Hmm, it was quieter at 75+ than mine at 45mph. Still said it was normal, or MAYBE mine was a little louder. I stated that maybe I could deal with some wind noise, but c'mon, water leaks? They sprayed water on it for 1/2 hr. and did see it leak. Next day, they tested again, and said it wasn't leaking. They thought maybe the glass guy, who they had come out again might have sealed something again without saying so he didn't look like an idiot. Rained that weekend, and I drove the pi** out of it to see if it'd leak. No water leaks, but horrendous wind noises. Started looking at other '04+ trucks in parking lots and noticed that the leading edge of the cowling on all other trucks was a little lower than the edge of the hood. Not mine, both sides were at least 1/4" higher than the hood. Looked a little closer, and they were not installed correctly. Neither of them was fully seated near the hood edge. There are plastic tabs that need a fair amount of force to seat. Once fixed, my cowlings sit lower than the hood. I can see a 3/8"
dust mark on the windshield where they used to sit. No noise until 55+ and then it's minimal. At 80+ (almost got popped by CHP on Christmas afternoon, doh!) there is some noise, but I would think it's normal. No longer do I need to turn up the radio to drown out the turbulent wind. I would advise if your cowling is not seated in the middle, get it replaced and make sure the leading edge is lower than the trailing edge of the hood. Sorry for the long entry, I was ready to sell the truck over this. Dealer was good to me the whole time, but I do think they should've caught this. Regardless, it's fixed so it's all good now. They just need to install the new molding............

I want to get a set of Vent Shades for the windows but I'm scared it will screw up the quietness.

Don't worry, I have an 04 FX4 super crew with vent visors on all 4 windows and the low profile bug shield up front....and its quiet as anything. The bug guard made a tiny bit of noticeable sound but only when flying down the highway with the radio off. Other than that its not noticeable. Everybody comments on how smooth and quiet my truck is!

Do you have a Supercab btw?

Sometimes my kids don't shut the back door fully, and then going down the road it makes a bunch of wind noise. I'm sure you've checked this but just throwing into the pile of ideas.
