NEW LED Taillights In!

Hey Fellas,

Take a look at what I got in the mail today! I'll be working on the custom wiring setup to get these to work where the top and bottom are both running, turn, and brake lights.

I took the pictures with the shrink wrap still on.

Duke

Thumbs up Nice. How much after you're all done?

Nice. How much will they cost once you're all done making them light up right?

Hard to say until I have the PMW finished.

Umm, thanks? (said sarcastically)

It looks a little worse then it is in these pictures because the plastic covering bubbles up at the bottom.

There is no way these bulge at the bottom like the APCs and the other taillights we've seen.

They come out slightly at the bottom in a molded manner which tapers it out. It doesn't bulge straight out at all.

Also, I don't think we'll ever have a manuf that'll be able to make it perfectly flat and look OEM at the same time. They have to put LED bars at the bottom and those require more depth. However, you can only go so deep out the back before you run into the braces in the back. Then it needs to offset out the front a bit.

Glad to hear you like them!

Duke

Hey Duke I have these same lights and I had to cut out the brace behind the lights on my truck to make them fit, let me know if you have to do the same. Is there a possible way to take the APC PMW thingy and put it in these to make the lights work?

Yeah I'll let you know if I have to cut out the brace. I'm not too worried about having to cut it though. I mean I already did a bigger cutting project installing the HID headlights.

Do you still have your set? Where did you get them and how much? Do you have any pictures of them installed?

EDIT: Nevermind I found your thread. Yeah I still don't think the tappered out area looks that bad. I don't think they'll ever be able to avoid that because manuf can't afford to make the top run normally by including a PWM. So they have to use the LED bars at the bottom which can only be recessed so far. Then you have the load assembly. That's why the APCs have such a large tumor area. They can only recess the LED bars and internals so far. The PWM will make the bottom bars appear much brighter.

It'll be possible to make the PWM work for the APCs I believe. Though I'd need to see a picture of the back of one of the APC lights.

Once I get the PWM figured out and put together I'll be able to give you more advice.

I honestly couldn't tell you, because I don't know. I remember seeing a member on here have them a long time ago but right before he was going to show us, his truck was stolen.

Yeah I'm excited to see what they look like regularly and then I'll work on adding the PWM next week to make them work how I'd like them to.

In which case I didn't spend too much. I also ordered the LED 3rd brake light that everyone bought off ebay recently.

Yes they are. I bought them from a member on here who purchased them at the SEMA show this year.
