Cool 06 performance log

2006 screw lariat 5.4 / 3.55
When my truck had about 800 miles on it I was getting 13/18.5 mpg.
This was encouraging with so few (stock) miles. I've done the following since then (under the always fix it if it ain't broke creedo):

Flowmaster 3 chamber (single in/ 3"out) - Nice sound - no noticeable mileage or performance boost.
K&N Cold Air induction - Mileage maybe +.5, hard to say, foot's always in it. Big sound, may be too much for the "don't notice me" driver. Some perceived potential performance however now "flat" after first gear unless 1/2 throttle or more. Should be running lean now right ?
Jet Performance Module - Don't waste your time. Superchip dude is correct, nothing happens unless WOT and then it all comes together but.....who wants to go WOT (wide open throttle) all the time. Well ok,
maybe "want" is the wrong word, how about "can afford".

After careful consideration, I'll be eating the $320 to Jet and installing Hypertech programming very soon. I found the Programmer for $280 + free shipping.

Stay "tuned".

Kenny

Please explain - what happened ?
Do you have other mods ?

I don't believe the programmer (Powertech III ?) can be transferred to another vehicle. It reads your VIN (I think).

Don't waste your money on the Hypertech.

Buy a Edge or custom tuned Xcal2 from Jusnes or Troyer.

The hypertech can be used on more than one vehicle, but only one at a time. When you take the programming off the car it returns it to stock and you can use it again on another vehicle.

I also have the new AEM Brute Force intake with the Dry Flow filter if anyone is interested.

Cool

What's an Xcal2 ? All I see from Superchip is the FlashPac programmer.
I'm assuming it's a Superchip product since Troyer was mentioned. I've already lost $320 in my haste to get the most out of the truck so I think I need to slow down. I hear you though, I'll take a pass on the Hypertech offer (for now) Dalley while I dig into this further. Thanks for the offer.

Is it just me - I don't see much performance related info on the site for late models ? Am I missing something ? Wasting my time and money ?
Has the 5.4 3V reached the engine's potential in stock configuration ?

Seems to be quite a few "returning to stock"...hmmm.......
Maybe a supercharger.......

Thanks for your input and shared experience.

A tuner will help out a great deal. . but if you have the money for the supercharger, than don't even waste your time with anything less.

No - it makes no difference what type of air cleaner you use (or if you even have one). Yes, a less restrictive filter and intake could let more air in at a certain throttle position but the MAF sensor still sees it so fuel would be adjusted accordingly.
