Auto Unlock function not working

Anyone have any idea what controls the Auto Unlock function on these trucks (05 F150 Scab) and what color wires are involved in the harness? Is there a way they could have been turned off? They still automatically lock when i put the truck in drive and take off, but they won't unlock once i put it in park like they used to. This was prior to a remote start/alarm install. The lock/unlock wires on the RS are unhooked to prevent any interference. I was just curious what could have happened, what controls this function, and if there are certain wire colors that send the signal to the door locks at the kickpanel. The kickpanel harness and the ignition switch/steering column harnesses were the only ones modified. Thanks again for the help. I couldn't find much with the Search on here or in google. Hopefully someone here is a Ford mechanic or is very familiar with the wiring system.

You mean the door handle? Mine unlock when i pull the handle, so that part is ok. My truck had automatically unlocked both doors when i put it into Park after i pull into my driveway or a parking spot. Now they stay locked and i have to hit the unlock button to let a passenger inside the truck since it automatically locked when i previously put it into drive. I'm not trying to be lazy cause it's not that hard to hit the unlock button, but if that feature is already on the truck from the factory then i would like it to work.

Let me also note that the factory keyless entry remote will unlock the doors.

Per the manual:

The autolock feature is available on automatic transmission vehicles with
power locking. This feature will lock all the doors when:
• all the doors are closed,
• the ignition is in the 3 (ON) position,
• you shift into any gear putting the vehicle in motion, and
• the brake pedal is released and the vehicle attains a speed greater
than 5 mph (8 km/h).

The autolock feature repeats when:
• any door is opened then closed while the ignition is in the 3 (ON)
position, and
• the brake pedal is released and the vehicle attains a speed greater
than 5 mph (8 km/h).

Deactivating/activating autolock
There are four methods to enable/disable this feature: One is through
your authorized dealer, the second with a power door unlock/lock
sequence, the third with the keypad, and the fourth using the message
center (if equipped).
Before following the activation or deactivation procedures, unlock all
doors using the power door lock/unlock control and ensure all vehicle
doors are closed.

So our Autolock feature is only for LOCKING the doors when the truck moves. There is no feature that automatically UNLOCKS it when your put it in Park. Perhaps this is only for trucks with actual alarm systems, and not for the factory power door locks..??..

I see what your saying about the Owners Manual but my truck automatically locks and unlocks itself also. I can turn the feature on and off using my digital display. (Lariat model) dont know if the FX4 has the digital display portion of the dash? It's funny that I can turn it on and off but your correct it is not covered in the manual????

See this is what i'm finding pretty much everywhere. Some people have this feature, some do not. Nowhere can i find any information on the unlock feature in the manuals. I did find what was posted about the autolock feature, but that part works perfectly. On all of my searches, i have found some people that have it on Scabs and other people with Screws complaining that their rear doors won't unlock and they have to press the unlock to let passengers out of the truck.

Anyone else have the Unlock feature on their trucks and do you know what controls the unlock feature? Is there a special relay? Is there a way to turn just the Unlock feature off (accidentally in my case)? Unfortunately my truck doesn't have the display area but not sure if it would do any good on my part, since the autoLock part works. If push comes to shove, i may disable the AutoLock feature and then re-enable it and see if it resets itself. If anyone has any input that would be awesome. Oh and great site, i'm glad i found it. I used to live on the classic mustang forums, so it's nice to get a change of scenery

I have owned three '04+ F-150's now. None of them had any automatic unlocking feature. They all had the automatic locking while in gear and traveling 5+ mph though.

Well if you do discover how to enable an Auto-UNlock feature, please share with is. This is one feature that I've had on previous vehicles that I really wish were on my truck.

I have the scab FX4, no auto unlock. The reason for not unlocking the rear doors, I would be willing to bet, is a safety feature because of kids. Same for the doors not unlocking and opening when you lift the handles.

Ok, lets just go out on a limb and say my truck had factory remote start but i was not aware of it because i'm not the original owner. Where might the factory RS box be located? I have found that the factory RS has this feature, and maybe the PO had one installed? I only got one key and one standard keyless entry remote, so maybe the RS remote is with the other key that i was not given? Maybe i added my own RS and didn't need to

Unless its aftermarket, it won't have auto unlock. Not safe.

Ford does include the auto UNlock feature on numerous vehicles currently (The Explorer, Mountaineer, and Expedition come to mind). However, the feature is not included from the factory on the F-150.

Sorry.

Weird, so mwheue and myself have this feature but can't figure out why i guess. Huh, well if i do find any more information about this i will let others know. I know for a fact that they did unlock themselves when i put the truck in park before i installed a remote start. I have the auto unlock feature with the RS/Alarm system but the unlock output wire does not work and hasn't since i installed the system. I was hoping it didn't mess up my factory auto unlock. I'll just get my RS module replaced with a working one and go along my merry way.
