FX2 and 5.4l Questions

Hey all, I just bought a new 07 FX2. http://www.flickr.com/photos/1072703...02745130/show/

My question is about power. It has the 5.4l, 3.55 standard rear end and 20" rims with Perilli Scoprion tires. I previously owned a 4.6l with 3.55 limited slip, 17" rims, Dunlop Radial Rover tires and a Flowmaster exhaust system and it felt fast. I saw an article that gave the 5.4l a 9+ sec 0-60. That sounds slow. Is the 5.4l a big difference in acceleration over the 4.6l?

Also, how long should I wait for the break in before stepping on it? I did not wait at all for my 04 4.6l and the engine seemed to be a little noisy from then on.

Thanks much.

Break it in like you stole it. With todays tollerances, its actually better to break in a vehicle hard. The whole, wait 500-1000miles, theroy is now debunked.

What engine, trim, mods, etc before the drag strip. I am curious as to my potential runs and 0-60. I have read it is about 9.6 or so. That sounds slow for 300hp!

I have a 2007 5.4l, Supercab XLT w/ FX2 Sport kit, Ford 20" rims, Pirelli Scorpion ATR tires, 3.55 standard rear end, and a toneau cover.

What should I expect as in increase from my 2004 4.6l XLT as far as 0-60, highway passing, etc? I have not had a chance to open it up since I drive a 2006 civic as a comuter car.

300hp with 5000lbs is slow compared to 300hp with 3500lbs.

The 5.4 3v pulls harder on the freeway by a long shot compared to any 4.6 2v and cab config.

A tuner will wake up the power. I have the Edge and it is worth every penny.

Thanks for the compliment FX4. I like the look of your truck, but I live in a suburb and don't have a need for 4x4. The only time I hit dirt is in PA, and even then it is a maintained dirt gravel road. I did almost get stuck up there last winter though. I took a wrong turn after a rain and had to rock-floor-rock-floor it to get out. The truck looked like it lost a tug of war with all of the mud on it! Even on the hood, and I have no idea how it got there!

AZ: How did the turck run its first day? What was your time?

ALL: What do you think the 0-60 actually is for a truck like mine? I won't get to test until the weekend with work, school, etc...

.. dont count the first or second run .. give the adaptive program in ur PCM and chance to, well. .. adapt.. and then by the 3rd run your truck will be as about awake as it'll get without a tuner
unless your already driving it like a bat outta hell then nvm..

nice truck btw..

I was not sure at first. I bought it late at night and the color looked girly. It has a magenta hue under the lot lights. Now that I see it in that day and at night away from the harsh light, it is a hot color. It is my wife's favorite color and I have always loved red. This is not a 'fire engine' or 'race' red so the cops may not see it as soon... hopefully...

Beautiful Truck. That is the standard bed, right? Very nice looking truck. I am looking at this config but with a short bed myself but am waiting for FORD to release a 5 speed transmission for it.

If you plan on waiting till 2009 you can get a 6-speed auto.
