If it was me i would shave it and clean it all up, especially if it isnt going to cost you anymore money. If you find that it is to plain jane for your liking, you can always order a custom billet badge(s) or emblem(s) in any design or style that you would like and just stick it on. At least this way you have a clean slate to work with.

man.....thanks for that extra photoshop....

it looks great with no handle and just the emblem...

this is a new can of worms, I'll have to do some investigation on some poppers or something quick...before pimer and paint starts...

Paint the handle white and get a white emblem overlay. That would be alot easier and a hell of alot cheaper.

I have always thought that a smooth surface would be cool. Let me explain: I would countersink the badge or an alternative emblem then smooth it over with acrylic filler. The emblem would be there, but there would be no lip around the badge. Easy to wax over too.

that actually sounds really nice and will bring it up when I talk to the shop tomorrow...don't know if that's beyond their capabilities or not...

also going to see about the feasability of shaving the rear handle only and putting in a popper/ alternative hidden handle on last minutes notice here before she's painted......leaving the rear emblem

I vote for dumping the chromed door handle covers altogether. Either paint to match or painted w/ the crome pull like the LT handles. The chrome covers are way to gaudy, at least to me they are.
