Thinking about going to 4.10 gears on 06 2X4

Next month I will be changing tires from 30" to 33". I was talking to Mike from Troyer Performance and he recommended a gear change for anything above a 10% change in tire height which corresponds to my situation. The good thing is is that I currently have an 06 4.6l 2 wheel drive with 3.55 limited slip which means I don't have to spend thousands to change gears. I'm pretty unfamiliar when it comes to gears so pardon me if my questions are noobish!

1) How much would parts cost?
2) Where can I buy them? Anywhere online or is a local shop better?
3) How much does installation usually cost? How many hours?
4) Do I need to just do the back or do I have to do the front also? I would imagine it would just be the back since its 2 wheel drive.
5) Any comments from those that have 4.10s on their 2WD F150?

My tunes from Troyer should be in next week so I will have superb performance. I am afraid that once I get new tires I will lose some of the performance, but getting the 4.10 gears would make up for that loss.

Thanks,
Doug

Cost around $500.00 give or take $100.00 depending on where you live. You can get them from the Dealer/Performance shops/Randy's Ring and Pinion etc! Between 2 and 4 hours to instal depending on if there changing bearings seals etc. at the same time. You only have rear gears in your truck 2x. I dont have 4:10's but rather 4:56's and 33's. 4:10 is good! It will be just right for performance/towing/gas mileage.

Call around first, some gear shops do not like using customer supplied gears.

You do not have a front diff. Only rear; so the back.

Had 4.56 in my old 4.6l 2v. It felt faster, but didn't go much faster. If i had to re-gear again i probably wouldn't.

I have 4.11's and 29" tall tires... Stock size or taller tires though 4.56 is the way to go.

He recommends a gear change just going up 10% in tire diameter? Thats being a little cautious to me. Although it would be one neck of a performance gain, you wont need it. I would do it though just to make it more fun to drive, gears are the best bang for the buck in my mind. If I had a 2WD, that would be the first thing on the list.
