Hmm...I guess I will have to look at the 16-18 footers. They still sleep 8 adults and thats all I really need. I really only need something to take out like 2 quads and 2 bikes and something to sleep in.

Go Prodigy...there is a connecting cable for the F150...no splices or anything to mess with. Straight easy install.

The fuse is actually a circuit breaker and it is for the 12 volt circuit that goes to the trailer to charge the battery. It has nothing to do with the brakes.

Check these out. I have two ATVs (600 pounds each) that I would like to take along without overloading the truck's capacities. Fully loaded, these guys only go to 6500 lbs. It's not covered, and you said that you have two bikes (maybe in the bed), so this may not be for you. The nice thing about these is that the toys are not inside the camper in case you want to get inside without unloading. Throw in a WD hitch, and you should be fine. My ATVs are utility, so the sporters are not going to be as heavy. It's still alot of tongue wgt, but that can be managed. I am leaning toward the travelstar because of the aluminum decking on the 8X8 cargo area, but both are nice. Good Luck.

Definately agree with:

1. Weight Distributing Hitch
2. Prodigy
3. MUCH lighter toy hauler

KSpencer gave very good advice with the Hybrid Toy Haulers. But, as you know the winter winds in the desert are brutal! You may not be happy with tent bunk-ends. I know I wasn't. Check out this thread. Grab some snacks and a drink. You can spend hours researching. Even better would be to sign up and ask this question in the Toy Hauler forum.

Hmm...Anyone ever hooked up a 5th wheel in an F150?? Just curious. Damnit I should have gone with a 250!!!! When I had initially purchased my truck I wasnt interested in a trailer, then I stayed in my buddies trailer and I now need one! Anyone hear anything about the 16 foot Baja trailer? Those look really nice and it wieghs 7000 and the hitch wieght is only 340 pounds. The dealer says its perfect for the F150 size trucks.

With your lift and the deep boxes on these trucks and 5th wheel is out of the question, unless you ditch the lift it just isn't going to happen. There are a few guys that have 5th wheels in their F150's, take a look in the towing/hauling forum.

Also keep in mind that even if you ditch the lift and lower it back to stock:
1. most fifth wheels will put your trucks GVW over. Fith wheel hitch weights are usually quite a bit more than a conventional TT. If your looking into a toyhauler fifth wheel, your looking at even more hitch weight to counterbalance the weight of the cargo area.
2. The deep box isn't an issue. They make hitches that will work in our trucks. They also need to slide to move the fifth wheel away from the cab when backing up. Pull Right makes one for our trucks. It is about $3000
I also looked at fifth wheels before we purchased our TT. I got more room and a bigger trailer from a conventional unit rather than a fifth wheel. Plus I didn't have to shell out $3000+ installation for the hitch!
