replacing window regulator or cable

Well,
My Front Driver side window dropped also. I did a lot of searching and cannot find any pictures. Maybe someone can actually help me with this.

I heard a pop and then a few seconds later my window dropped (didnt actually crack thank god). So I pulled my motor and regulator out. The cable system is all messed up. Is that part of the regulator? Or do I need to buy a cable system. I think the motor is ok. It still talks.

I am not to sure how I go about buying the part I need. Local stores dont have it and I know if I buy it online, it will arrive wrong. Dealership......haha that's a joke. What do you suggest?

This looks like it is going to be tough to put together when I find these new parts. Is it?

You can buy the entire regulator/motor assembly from fordparts.com or other such sites. The unit is less than a hundred bucks and bolts up in just minutes once you have the door panel off.

You might want to be careful and buy it from the dealer. I just put one in my car and the dealer needed the last 6 digits of the ID number to get the correct one. Also, installation can be tricky. On my car (and probably on the truck), you have to drill out large pop rivets to remove the regulator and disconnect it from the glass and you need to reinstall with large pop rivets. I would have it done at a body shop and not risk breaking the glass. I would guess the flat rate to install is around an hour.

There are not rivets to remove or reinstall during the installation of these units on the truck. Very easy to do.

The motor and regulator is one integrated unit and are purchased together. When you go to the website, click on the collision catalog, then front doors, then door glass and hardware, then regulator. There, you will select power on manual. It should be pretty straight forward.

OK, THANKS!
Do you recommend me replacing both regulaotr and motor eventhough my motor still works? Or do I have to purchase both together? I thiunk that is what you are telling me. The reason that I ask is because I kept running into that website where it shows just a regulator. How quick does it take them to ship? I cannot find shipping costs anywhere.

No and you won't. An autoparts store that can get these is buying them from Ford and then selling them to you.
The unit is integrated. You pay the 80-110 bucks and just swap it in. Keep the old motor incase you need just the motor in the future. I doubt you ever will. E-bay it.
Best of luck
Chris

When they list just the regulator on their website, they are actually listing the regulator and motor. These units are made together, therefore label the unit as the regulator. You can not but the motor separately. The shipping costs ran me about $15.00 from their dealership Texas to my home in Virgiinia.
