Need help with security(consists of someone vandalizing my truck last night)

To start off sometime between 9pm-11:30pm last night someone (maybe more than 2 people) came to my house last night and there's a ditch that goes around the side of my house that separates my house from my neighbors. This ditch consists of many rocks that are a little bigger than a softball. Well these people probably around 17 years old (my age) threw these rocks at my truck.
Last night I took out the trash at 11 and noticed shadows and a Kid running into the ditch around the side of my house. The kid was about my height 6 ft. and I didn't think anything of it, I thought it was just some kids screwing around in a ditch cuz that ditch leads to another side fo the neighborhood. So I go to school today and when I come back to pull into my driveway, there's the rocks there were I parked last night. and I was like, hmm yardworkers didn't come over the weekend or today, it wasn't windy last night either. But I don't think anything of it, and park my truck and walk around the tailgate to the passenger side of the truck to go into my house and I notice the biggest *******ing dent in my fender just above the front right tire. Now I'm pissed off and got a quote today, ($550). But it's trying to find the people who did it that's pissing me off. The only people I can think of that I'm not on good terms with are these drugy p.o.s. kids at my school. But I haven't seen or spoken to them in over a year. So I call them and asked them what they did last night (and their stories don't match up) One says they went to see a movie with the other last night so only two of them went. The other says that he saw a movie last night with the other kid plus another kid. When I say well that's funny the other kid says that it was only you and him that saw a movie last night noone else he hangs up on me. And then calls back 5 minutes later saying he lost signal and he didn't do it. I filed a police report and everything but there's really nothing I can do about it. And I'm not sure who could've done it cuz these kids are really stupid and probably don't remember who they saw a movie with last night.

So after you guys taking the time to read my story (which i appreciate). Anyone have any recommendations as to what I can do to prevent this from happening again? My bedroom is 20 ft from where I park my truck. I always park my truck outside. Should I get an automatic light for outside (the driveway). And what security systems for a truck would you recommend?
A good security system that doesn't have a stupid but rather normal alarm if something hits my truck again.

Thanks for any recommendations, this is the first time anything's ever happened to my truck before and it post pones my other mods I was going to get. And some of you know I have OCD when it comes to taking care of my truck. So you can imagine how pissed I am.

i'm sorry man--people who don't respect the property of others really aggravate me...not that i never engaged in mischief as a kid, but man, i liked cars and never did stupid stuff like this

hopefully you can work out an insurance claim

as for preventing it, if you can't park in a garage, i think the motion-sensor lights are a great deterrent if aimed and calibrated properly...just be respectful of where the light shines when it's on, ie don't aim it towards your neighbor's bedroom

good luck

Get the motion sensor light and a cheap wireless camera to hook up to a cheap vcr. If they come back, you'll have it on video.

If not recorded at least the camera may scare them off next time.

Good luck.

Thanks a lot for the quick replies guys. The thing about the camera is that that'll be pricey and this has been the first time anyone has ever done anything to my truck in 3 years. Because I have 1/2 an acre from the road to where I park (I have a big front yard) these people specifically don't like me. It wasn't random.

I will do the motion sensor lights being respectful to my neighbors and by the way I should talk to them tomarrow to see if they saw or heard anything.

But does anyone have any recommendations for a good security system? I don't want some cheapy rice burner thing either.

there is a security system from radio shack you can get. It came with a black and white monitor and cable to route the 2 cameras it came with, both have infra red vision for night. They also have mic's on the camera so you can hear and speak back to each camera...it's rather neat.
