Problem with Shifter and cruise control

Something happened this weekend that I can't shift the flow thru shifter with out using the manuel override. Also, the cruise control coincidentially doesn't work now either. I checked the book for the correct fuse that might be blown with no luck. Anyone got a fix or fuse number to try? Thanks

Pull the top off the console around the shifter and there is a little white button on the left side of the shifter you can push in an emergency.

Sounds like a problem with the brake light switch. This switch is responsible for releasing the shifter and it also will not allow cruise control to work. My best guess anyway.

Yeah, I can hear my shift safety switch engage and disengage by slightly tapping the brake pedal in park.

Read the owners manual. It is listed there.

How can you check to see if it is the brake light switch? Any other suggestions?

Have someone stand behind the truck while you hit the brakes. If the brake lights come on it is working.

Hi... new to the forums..
sounds to me like your brake shift interlock is bad, it will cause a cruise control inop condition along with the inability to shift without using the override switch

well, dealer replaced shift interlock switch, and cruise control switch. Also had rough idle on start ups so they replaced #5 coil. That extended warranty is begining to pay for itself. I'm $600 into the $1800 so far and got 20000 miles to go......
