volant no lid

Just wondering if anyone has tried running the volant without the lid at all...and if so how much louder... I am going to try it myself just wondering if anyone had already. THanks

I think that kind of defeats the cold air intake design, but let us know what you find out.

Seems a bit louder on mine when I get on the gas, especially in the cooler weather we are having now. Summer time I like to keep it on to keep some of the excessive heat out.

I run with mine off all the time! It makes a difference! If i had to do it all over again, i would buy the AF1. I had my truck down to Troyers on the dyno. My truck did not make the power that the AF1's did, plain and simple... I feel that by removing the lid helps with the air flow and i notice a difference when i step on it.

Yeah, heat with an intake like the AF1 is only an issue when stopped. There's plenty of airflow under the hood to keep things cooler while driving. I don't really care for volant's design, but it does look more "stock" and some people go for that type of clean look.

I agree. The heat issue could be an issue for all CAI's if you are sitting there idling for a while. Only then it will be hardly noticable...
