What just happend? Truck Stall Issue?
Ok, I was just pulling into my parking spot at my apartment complex and I normaly back up into the spot. So I put my truck in reverse and right when I did this the truck stalled
? While I was stalled in the middle of the road I put my truck back in park and restarted it fine. What happend?!?! Its only 65 degrees out(first time my truck has experinced cold weather) And I have 13973 miles on my truck. I hope its nothing bad.

sounds exactly the same as what mine did a couple months back- i was in D though...but it just straight up stalled... no codes, no wrenches, no nothing. restarted and all has been fine since... i've chalked it up to a fluke in the pcm...
that almost happened to me a week ago.. i was leaving a 7/11, put it in reverse and the truck started to idle really rough.. i put it in neutral and it idled normally... put it back in reverse and it started idling really rough again.. so i said F it, backed up and went.. truck hasnt done it since.. so IDK... i think it wanted to stall but my exhuast system wouldnt let it

I guess its just a normal PCM glitch that happens once in a while. The exact same thing that happend to BalogUK happend to me.
I've seen this in a bunch of '04s, a handful of '05s and no '06s thus far. Usually, it's a combination of having to reprogram the PCM to the latest available calibration, and a faulty vapor management valve, purging liquid fuel into the engine at low speeds, essentially flooding it out. If it was an early '04, I've seen a few electronic throttle concerns cause this before too, often trucks needed the latest level TPS and a recalibration.

My 04 did that alot when it was cold out too. But, mine ending up being the Superchips tuner I had bought. The place I bought it from sent me an 05 F150 tuner. I have an 04 and a Diablo tuner now. No more stalling.
I had stall problems when I first bouthg mine. 04, I took it in to the dealer, they scanned it, didn't find anything (or so they said). They said that they reset the computer. Haven't had a problem since, it's been almost two years. I live outside of Denver, so it gets COLD! Still, no problems.

I had this happen to my 2002 Ranger FX4 as I was making a low speed turn. The engine just died. It started back up again, but was scary. I owned the truck for about 1 1/2 more years and it never did it again.
I had the same thing happen one time shortly after I got my 2004 F150 FX4. It never happened again.
I have a friend with a Silverado, and it happened to him...going down an interstate...yikes...but the engine started back up in all cases..and never happened again.
I would agree it is a computer issue. Not sure why I see this on my newer trucks...have a 2004 Honda Accord and has never done this...(knocking on wood).
If it doesn't happen again, don't sweat it...if it does, head to the dealer and ask for a reflash. That is what I would do. Incidentally, when it did happen on my Ranger, I called the dealer right away and they had no advice other than what I just gave you..come in if it happens again. Good luck!
