ill tee this up: hypertech?

my buddy has a gmc sierra, and has a touch screen hypertech chip with all the goodies. he claims it makes 50 hp and is removable.

do they make you for our cars or is he just full or caca de toro

They might make a couple of horsepower at most. Sometimes they make no horsepower... The biggest benefit is to adjust what temp your fans come on. You can also adjust for a different gear size, tire size. It can adjust a few other things, but it is only going to give you a SMALL increase in horsepower at the most. I remember people with LS1 cars reporting a loss once in awhile with the programmer.

actually programers are the biggest gain you can get on a gasser, when you dont have a S/C!

It MIGHT make 50 horsepower. But that's going to be at the flywheel and not the rear wheels. I'd call BS anyway and tell him to go dyno it both pre and post hypertech.

From my experience with LS1 cars the Hypertech programmer made little to no HP on the dyno. On these trucks it might be different. I am also specifically talking about Hypertech, and not the other programmers that are available for these trucks. I just remember it seemed to be a waste of money on the GM platform.

I sorry i miss read, hypertech is a crappy tuner but there are some tunner that can net you a 20-30 rwhp gain with a can tune!
