Question Installing an Overhead Rail System

Before anyone asks....YES, I have used the the forum search. I found no answers there. What I am trying to find out is if an overhead rail system can be mounted in an 06 xlt supercrew. The dealer says no. They say that there is a difference in the roof sheet metal between those that have the rail system and those that don't.

I think they are just feeding me a line of bull. Anyone out there know for sure if this can be done or not ?

If so, whats involved ?

I installed one in my 05 XLT SC, I got it off ebay.... I would not recommend installing one in your headliner unless you are very good at laying out for precision cuts... it must be installed in the headliner and then installed in the truck as a one piece assembly... if you have a super crew, back glass must be removed....

you can get the headliner from the dealer with the rail installed... but you will need more parts than come with the headliner....

as far as fit, it fit like a glove and all the holes where already in the roof beam...

If I can butt in and ask a question here: Was this an option or did it come standard with certain packages in 04? Is it even still offered? I don't really like the idea and am looking at buying a truck that has it in it and I wish it didn't.

Thanks
