confused with lack of wheel spin...
why do I have a hard time lighting up my rear wheels? On any given nice and dry day, I can not spin my wheels. At all. They may chirp once in a blue moon. Even cutting the wheel and stomping on it, I just get a short squeel. What is this? Traction control or something? Even when Power braking, it doesn't seem like the engine is revving high enough, and they don't spin, just nose dives. Not that I want to smoke my tires off or anything, just looking to figure out what's going on. I feel as though the PCM limits the amount of throttle when first stomping on it.
I keep writting it off as the engine learning routine thing. But my truck now has 30k on it. In the rain, it spins em no problem. Are the tires just that good.
damn ford and using good tires.
At the ezpass lanes on the other hand, when I'm doing 10-15 miles, then romp on it, it lights them up. Doesn't smoke them, but they definetally both get spinning. Get about a 5 foot burn out.
Can anyone elaborate?

YES they are!!! I drove to Houston one time on my bike and I could not leave the change lane my tire just kept spinning! I finally had to creep out. Do you know what gear ratio you have? I can get my 37's to spin but they won't squeal...?

At the EZ-Pass zone, vehicles (including the clunkers) are traveling half that speed or less and therefore spend twice as long or more 'in the zone'.
Also, out on the highway a lane is a minimum of 12' 3", there are two or three to choose from and vehicles are wandering all over the place.
At the EZ-Pass, every vehicle gets 'Funneled'.

I have the perfect solution to your woes. Simply run a length of 1/4" vacuum line from the cabin and thought the bed. Next, tee if off and drill a 3/8" hole leading to the top of each rear inner fender well. Now put a grommet in there and pull your line through. Leave about 2-3" of line dangling above each rear tire. Next attach a funnel to the other end of the line in your cabin and hang this from the mirror.
The next time you pull up to some 16 year old in a riced out civic who you really want to impress, just pour some water into your funnel and smoke "dem" puppies to the cords! Problem solved and much cheaper than a power adder.

Mine will burn them a short distance on anything but super rough pavement.
Older trucks would light them up for half a block, not six feet.
I think one reason these trucks don't spin tire like trucks in the past is the overall design.
Tire spin is sometimes a sign of lots of power, but it is can also be a sign of too little weight on the tire, extra low gears, low traction tires, slop in the drive train, or play in the suspension.
This play or slop will allow the tires to jerk and start to spin. A sort of ‘neutral’ start launch.
The frame on the new model is very rigid; the weight is much better proportioned than most trucks. The trucks are very high geared.
Older style trucks had lousy weight distribution. Made it easy to spin tires because there was little weight in the rear. Of course, it also made them spin out in corners and handle like, well, trucks.
The combination of the wide stance shocks, heavy frame, heavier bed added to the very almost tuning fork tight design minimizes wheel spin. Add this to better grabbing tires and tall gears and what would you expect?

The worst part about that idea, I've done it. For a little while in my 00 mustang, I had diluted bleach that was sprayed on the tires. Though I use two windshield washer nozzles and a washer pump. Was more of a show off thing for our mustang meets. But it was pretty fun.
