Traction Assist...

Ive noticed that Ford offers traction assist now on the 2x4 v8's, but Im wondering exactley what Fords traction assist does? Ive searched a bit for it on here but really havent found much on it. Im wondering exactley how it works on these trucks. Also, is there a button to turn it on and off?

Does it just electronically reduce torque to the rear wheels when its engaged or what?

I also noticed in my searches that some people didnt think you could get the TA with a limited slip rear end...Is this true for sure or not?

Thanks

my mom has traction control on her suburban i am assuming that they operate they same. i have noticed on her suburban that if it is on and i gun it, the tire slips just a little, if i disable it and i gun it the tires will spin. i think it just electronically controls the power part of the throttle by wire...

It'll use the electronic throttle control to reduce throttle when wheel spin is detected, and the ABS to modulate brake application.

I think you have to get the LS in order to get the traction control. On the explorers there is no button to turn it off, but if you shift it into 1st or 2nd it turns off.
