I wouldn't paint them anything other than arizona beige. . now if you had a monotone paint scheme than I'd say it'd be okay.

step by step: (this also works with any of the more advanced image editors)

1- copy image from your post.

2- paste into new document, add a new layer for the color effects.

3- use ruler guides to guide where i want my circle mask paths to match up to, then i draw a circle i hit the rim edges very closely and fill with black (or desired color), then deselect the new color layer.

4- use the pen tool to click/drag to make the shape of the void areas from the color layer (basically everything that was within the black filled circles that i do not want colorized), make the paths a selection, then delete from the color layer.

5- once all of the color areas correct, then use the layer property "multiply" to allow the under image (your original) to bleed through the new color layer on top. i also reduced the opacity to show more of the highlights/shadows of the rim. as in this case w black, you can also select the new color image area, switch that selection back to the original image and brighten/contrast to give it more "pop" under the new heavier colored later.

6- if the edges look too sharp and jagged you can feather it to soften the edge so it's less noticable you've doctored it in photoshop.

7- post and enjoy!

i also have been using photoshop for a long time and it's a very powerful software tool. it takes doing little fun project like this to get a good feel for it. keep trying and if my post makes no sence, this weekend i'll try to post a better step by step and possibly links to more tips.

I have been thinking about doing the same thing with my 20' wheels painting the areas you have black with the Arizonia beige, I have already been looking in to it with a local paint shop, my only concern is just using auto paint basecoat/clearcoat could it chip and flake off if rocks hit the wheels or a scratch

Could someone photoshop the same wheels with an Arizonia Beige?

Thanks

I painted the factory wheels like that on my old ranger. Make sure you rough up the areas you want to paint with a 400-500 grit paper and wipe it down with alcohol to get up any grease. I painted mine a satin black and went over it with 2 coats of clear. Never chipped afterwards. (3yrs)
I did it on a very hot day, took all 4 wheels off, sanded, masked, then wiped down. Sprayed all 4 wheels and layed them in the sun on top of a black piece of cardboard so it could collect the heat of the sun.
