Nice... Our Department Only Allows "one Afixed" Light... That Would Be Considered 4, Our Department Is A Pain About Lights... Doesn't Want Our Vehicles To "look Like A Christmas Tree". I Barely Get Away With My Rear Strobes... But I Say That I "use Them For Plowing".

-still Like Those Though.

I went all out with my LED lightbar.





Had it professionally installed, no wires or anything showing at all. Love it!

I'm just worried about the '09's! What if they have like a vista panoramic roof like that new Fairlane they are making, or a roof similiar to the F-250 Super Chief? You need some actual roof for stability and mounting!

I have a question for all of you great volunteer firefighters. If you are responding Code 3 to a fire, are you liable if your in an accident, or does the department pick up the insurance when you are on a call?

In response to your question on rotator speed, I've got to agree with Tiny1. My Star Interceptor has two "standard speed" rotators (80 FPM) and two "high speed" rotators (160 FPM). If you stand back from the truck and look for which ones get your attention, it's the regular speed ones. The fast ones are just going around too quickly. I'd stick with the slower speed ones. Besides, the higher speed ones will wear out more quickly.

I am assuming that Code 3 means 'response with lights' ???? In this area we don't use that type of terminology. Anyways, with my department it is my understanding that our insurance covers us as soon as our pagers go off and until we get back home from the call, whether we are in our personal vehicles or not.

But ironically at a Chief's Association meeting last night that I was at, we had the assocaition's insurance writer/carrier there. This person represents the same insurance company that my department uses. From what he was saying, it sounds like it is your personal insurance coverage that would be in effect.
