Anyone have this problem?

Ive noticed several times at start up my truck will have a jerking, or surging feel after putting it in drive and thats with my foot not even being on the gas. It's an 05 with the 5.4. Thanks

Are you putting it into drive right at start up? My truck idles at about 1500 rpm right at start up and the takes about 20-30 seconds to drop down to normal rpm's.

Do you take off immediately after start-up? These trucks have a rev up feature programmed in the computer allowing them to rev up to around 2k RPM'S a few seconds after start up, in order to warm the engine up quicker and get oil to the valves before taking off. I suggest starting your truck and let it run for about 45 seconds to 1 minute and then take off. If it is still doing it, report back and we'll get it figured out.

well- it obviously does it at 1800 rpm- but it will lurch even after it drops to a cool 800 idle (in my truck at least)

of course- but once you do select a gear, does your truck lurch forward, or is it smooth until you give it gas to go?

There are several functions in the PCM to control this, them main one however is the ISC air multiplier table that is setup based on ECT and Time. Roughly 80 cells if i can remember right.
