Rounding Tires

When I installed my 2" autospring i got a new alignment but it my front tires still wear down on the outside corners. Do our trucks just do this? I dont drive like nascar or anything could they have done a *****ty alignment, could my ball joints be bad, or could it have jumped out of alignment in 6 months?

What tires do you have?

I had the BFG Rugged Trails on my 2004 and they did the same thing. I also had a spacer/leveling kit, but my alignment was spot on from the day it was done.

Mine done this too with the 2.5" autospring. Thats half the reason I took mine off. I figured its the crappy tires cause I had a very very good technician do my alignment.

I never noticed it when I was running the Rancho + 1-1/2" Autospring. The Rancho sits a little higher in the rear without using a leveling kit/spacer. Just a but anyways, why not go with the RCD 4.5" and that way if you ever want to upgrade to the full 6" you don't need to buy a new lift!

I have General tires that are rounded out too. I have a leveling kit. But I did drive around awhile with a bad rack and pinion. I thought that was the cause of the bad tires? I am about to get a new set of BFGs, is this going to happen again?

Bump up your air pressure a little bit. Should take some of the wear off the edges and put it more in the middle of the tire. I would start with about 10 psi.

I've seen it with low tire pressure and any increase in center of gravity (lift or leveling kit). I also think that running a load range C tire on a truck that weighs 5800 lbs is a bad combo. These tires do not have enough sidewall to handle the turning. A range D or E would cure these problems.

I just went out and looked at my Generals. Load range of 2337 lbs. Is that the problem?

Those sound to be p-series tires, what is the max pressure on the tire and what are you running them at.
As far as a load range C, they are just fine for our trucks. They handle far more weight than the truck is rated at. I don't like p-series tires for trucks.

My front tires were wearing a little on the outsides at 5k miles. The truck had too much toe in from the factory. My friend owns an alignment shop and he noticed it had too much toe in before I installed the 2" Auto Spring. After I installed the 2" AS he lined it up and recommended I run more air in my tires.
