Switching Oil Weight

I have 55000 miles on my '04 with no problems and I have been using 5w20. Is it ok to switch to 10w30? I can get that weight free so I would like to switch. Opinions??

I wouldn't. Any time you go outside the Ford recommended oil and filter you open yourself up to warranty claim denial. Plus the VCT cam phasers are made to work with the 5W20 oil specifically. I don't think free oil is worth the possible headaches it could cause down the road.
