The pros and cons of 4.6L ~VS~ 5.4L.
definatly 5.4. there are very little problems with the new 5.4s sure youll see alot of posts on here about problems with them but whos going to post about NOT having problems.....I suggest we start a poll of people with the new 5.4 for ppl who have and havent had problems and see what comes up. i know lots off ppl that have new 5.4s and have never had a problem. look up the TSBs one day for the HEMI and see what troubles thier having...its not pretty. about the only bad thing i could say about them is the spark plug desighn can make them hard to change but just suck it up and bring it to the dealer and let them do it...

The 4.6L does have less power but the only time I really notice it is on the highway since it tends to downshift more to get up hills and such. I'm going to add an intake to help with the power. The advantage to the 4.6 is increased MPG, I get about 3mpg more, and there are a ton of upgrades since it has been out for quite a while. The 5.4 is still relatively new considering the 3-valve heads. I'd love more power but the gas savings and not going to the shop all the time is worth it.

Is the 5.4L superior in all aspects or does the 4.6L have any redeeming qualities, like maybe better gas milage?
Please discuss, I'm interested in your take on this.

You guys get great mileage! I have an 05 scab Fx4 that i drive both in the city and on the highway and i get right around 14mpg everytime. I had a 98 with the 4.6 in it with a chip, exhaust and intake and I liked that truck a lot, I think the killer is gears. The 4.6 needs 373s to get the truck up and moving. For the mileage you will lose it is worth it!
Mine is a 5.4L regular cab w/tow package and have to say I love that engine. I test drove the 4.6L and noticed a big different in power. Granted i don't have anything to tow, i just like power, and the difference in my paymets was only $20-25 more, I was like what the hello, go for it, just about same gas mileage.
