well I did some more investigating

it seems that the installer my local dealership uses does indeed use Code Alarm. The highest system they install is the CA630 for $459. They will not install a 670 or 680 because they 'are not familiar with it'

They also install a 'Ford' system which is probably the same exact thing?
for $650

does going to an outside installer void any factory warranty?
or doing it yourself?

although I dont really see myself taking this on

His installation instructions are spot on and have color photos of the install. Travis was VERY helpful in giving me information on what type of system I needed for what I wanted it to do. I would recomend giving Travis a call or visit his website KCAutosound.com. Also this sytem alllows the keypad to arm/disarm the alarm.
Do you know what the difference between the 670 and the 680 is? Can you call from a phone and start the truck with the 670? Do yo uneed a seperate module for that feature? With the 670 remote can you use that to lock and unlock the doors? I dont want to carry the 670 remote and my Ford remote. One more thing, whats the difference between the remotes for the 670 and 680..anyone know?

I have been looking into getting a RS but had a few questions that maybe you guys could answer for me. I have an 06 Lariat and want to know if an aftermarket RS will void any use of the memory seats, headlight delay feature and the domelight coming on when you unlock?

That was some of the things I had my installer add with the install to work like stock. He had to add a relay for the lights (headlights and domelights work like factory). I didn't ask about the memory function with the remote (I don't think this would be possible with an aftermarket remote, I could be wrong though). The memory on the seat still work on the buttons on the seat or the factory remote.
You could get a Fusion transponder key that has the remote built into the key and program it to work. I just bought this one on ebay and thats what I'm going to do so when my wife drives it I'll just hit the unlock on the key so the seat goes back for me.That way I don't have to carry two seperate remotes. I don't know if I could have got it cheaper but it was $41 w/shipping. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWN%3AIT

Do you program it jsut as you would a reguler remote and then just have it cut at a locksmith? What about any security chips in the keys themselfs?

I saw this in another post and a few here have done it. I haven't got mine yet. But everyone said you program it just like a regular remote and after the key is cut program it the same as a regular key and it will work. The bow of the key is bigger for the remote and some have said it rubs the black rubber around the key hole a little, not bad though. So I'm gonna give it a try.

The only difference is the remote. The 670 has the old lcd and the 680 has the new dot matirx. I've seen the lcd and like my dot matrix better. The dots are so small it dosen't look like old fashion dot matrix everyone is use to. When I get home this weekend, I'll take a pic and post it.

The Code alarm 670 or 680 remotes will replace your factory remote.

The calling from the phone is called Car-link (module)...it's an add on feature. Pretty cool!!! No monthly fees either. One time set-up...only thing you pay is for the module.

Also, get the outboard shock sensor...the internal has been having problems. I think Travis includes it at no extra charge, but don't quote me on that.

I thought about the Viper...but you can't go wrong with the brand that makes your factory alarms, huh? IIRC, the Viper wont work with the keypad anyway.

BTW, Travis' instructions are dead on!!! Even you can install it Brew!!!
Plus, he is a GREAT guy to deal with...he bends over backwards for you, especially if you are having problems. I definitely hope his business is around for awhile!!!!

Geeze..I have one small problem with my reverse camera and look what I get...

I actually talked to Travis tonight. What a great guy, answered all my questions and then some, BSd for a while and he's gonna give me a pretty good deal on the whole thing when Im ready. Problem is I just dropped the cash for the XCal and Im still trying to save for my lift which I want by Christmas the latest. I refuse to put that on my credit card. So, I guess I need to do a few days of overtime so I can get everything....I need a money tree.

I second that. I have purchased 5 alarm/starter systems from him for myself, family, friends and installed them with is help. Also a couple navigation/monitors, speakers, amps and even a home reciever. Awesome guy to do business with. I always hit him up if I'm looking for something. He's been working on his site so it hardly reflects what he sells. He carries alot of stuff just hasn't posted it. He'll take care of ya.
